Willow
Hill Farm includes two barns, one with a fully illuminated 60' x 140' indoor arena, safe turnouts, indoor wash stall,
and tack room. Clients seeking instructions at Willow Hill are encouraged to not simply take lessons, but to take an
active role in learning about the care and handling of horses. Our goal is to help clients develop a working knowledge
of the care, nutrition, anatomy, and proper equipment associated with horses, along with the riding disciplines. Strong
horsemanship skills help the rider create a strong and successful partnership with the horses that they ride and train.
We believe these elements to be essential from the trail to the show ring.
About Jan Coy:
Jan Coy,
the owner and manager of Willow Hill Farm, has over 40 years experience in riding, farm management, and competition.
Her current focus lies in promoting both Thoroughbred and Thoroughbred crosses as great dressage partners.
She
works closely with talented local trainers Chrissa Hoffman and Linda Schultz. (see links page) Jan feels that
horses entrusted into our programs should be brought along with patience and love. Dressage is particularly helpful for
thoroughbreds because they want to "please", so can be reactive and fretful. Fortunately, dressage is about
the journey, not the quick fix. The goal at Willow Hill is to improve with every opportunity, and learn how to create a dressage
partner that is connected to you with trust -- not leather.
